How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
A large rectangular window emitting light is applied the skin. Energy travels through the epidermis/dermis finding the hair follicle, which connects with the melanin in the hair shaft and bulb.
The melanin absorbs the light, which kills the blood supply to the hair follicle. The hair follicle then dies. The SHR’s gradual heating method effectively damages the hair follicles while avoiding injury to the surrounding skin. A small amount of the hair will fall out after 20 days. The hair grows in 3 stages and multiple treatments are required.
You will see less hair growth with each treatment. This procedure is quick, comfortable, and extremely cost effective! This laser works on all skin types, light, dark and even tanned skin. It does not work on gray or light blonde hair since the laser connects with the melanin in the hair follicle.
FAQs
Treatment sessions usually last from a few minutes to an hour or more depending on scope of required treatment and your unique skin and hair type.
Most patients require a series of 6 to 9 treatments for maximum effect: the laser can only kill hair follicles that are in the middle of their growth cycle at the time of treatment and some follicles may begin their growth cycle after the treatment. Darker skin types may require a few more treatments.
Treatments should be done every 6-8 weeks.
No waxing, tweezing, or plucking in between treatments.
Not effective on blonde, red, or gray hair.
Please make sure that the area to be treated has been shaved the night before or the day of treatment.
